OceanWave Monaco are proud to work in partnership with KDW Training, to provide specialised yacht interior training courses for interior crew members of all levels.
The training covers a range of different topics including Service, Housekeeping, Laundry, Valet, Cigars and Yacht Interior Admin courses. We also specialise in Chief Stewardess/Senior Stewardess training with a bespoke 5-day training program.
Course Location
We offer IAMI GUEST accredited training onboard, shoreside and online as well as bespoke training solutions, depending on the needs of the team.

IAMI GUEST Advanced Service Course
The three-day IAMI GUEST Advanced Service training course (GUEST U5) is a well-rounded program offering both theoretical and practical insight into different aspects of service. The course entails a full overview of the various service styles used onboard including Silver Service, Plated Synchronised service, Butler Service, Russian Service and BBQ. There are two live practical lunches where you will be working with a chef and serving guests, dealing with real-time situations and challenges. Practical assessment is based on a combination of service styles including Silver service, Plated service and Synchronised service as well as overall ability. The emphasis is very much on practical (learning by doing).
Practical modules also include filleting cooked fish and caviar service. Table decorating, napkin folding and etiquette are also covered. We look at menu knowledge, in particular French terminology and go in depth on a full range of luxury items such as truffles, chocolates, types of breads, pasta, cheeses, cuts of meat and many others. It is an intense course with a great balance of theory and practical.

Yacht Stewardess Training Chief Stewardess/Senior Stewardess Course
It’s time to step up and fine-tune your skills. This five-day programme is aimed at individuals who have worked in senior positions onboard for at least two seasons who are looking to consolidate their knowledge base and potentially build valuable new skills to help them become more effective in their roles.
We start off by taking an in-depth look at the Yacht Interior Administration skills required to successfully run the Interior department. This provides a sound theoretical foundation as well as practical training in creating and using checklists, standard operating procedures (SOPs), inventories, interior manuals for all Interior sub-departments (Service, Housekeeping & Laundry) as well as uniform inventories, ordering and purchasing.
From here we move to some of the key Human Resource elements of recruitment, performance management and how to train and develop your team. We look at the importance of communication, health and safety and as well as an introduction into MLC, flag state regulations and crew contracts. We also cover how to organise and successfully manage Shipyard and Refit periods for the Interior, an introduction to Accounting, and share valuable knowledge and experience that can be put into action immediately.

- Create, implement and manage inventories (Including the basics of Excel), checklists, departmental procedures, rosters and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Course pre-requisites
- A minimum 50% deposit is required, at time of registration, to secure a place on this training course
- Candidates must be aged 18 or over
- Candidates must have a working knowledge of both written and spoken English
- Minimum 2 seasons onboard, preferably in senior position

Pre-Assignment
Once you have been accepted onto the course and the deposit has been received, you will be required to complete two mandatory pre-assignments:
1: A review of etiquette and communication (ICE)
2: A review of health, safety and security (HSS)
Both of these assignments MUST be passed prior to the start of the course.
Evaluation
The primary means of evaluation is continuous assessment and oral evaluation– all tasks and exercises throughout the week must be completed and passed to the standard required by the IAMI GUEST program.

Upon meeting the IAMI GUEST requirements, successful candidates will be awarded the following certificates:

IAMI GUEST Introduction Yacht Interior Administration - Online
The Yacht Interior Administration course (GUEST U34) is an interactive program that provides an in-depth look at all the aspects and skills required for the smooth running of the Interior from an Administrative perspective. We also work on building confidence and developing a good mindset towards the challenges faced in a senior role onboard. Whether you are stepping up for the first time into a senior role or just want to make sure that you are doing things in the most productive and effective manner, this course is for you.

IAMI GUEST Introduction Cigar Service
This half-day IAMI GUEST accredited introduction into the world of cigars (GUEST U6) offers a sound theoretical and practical foundation into all aspects of this often-misunderstood luxury item. The insights gained allow candidates to know how to handle cigars confidently and take correct care of them. Understanding history and production methods, purchasing, correct handling, as well as what to do when a guest requests a cigar, are all skills taught in this module. We look at the most common brands of cigars, beverage pairing as well as how to cut, light and smoke (optional) a cigar.
